Choreography Philosophy

There is a quote that goes something like this: "Our job as artists is not to make good art or bad art but to make a lot of it." Along with that, I believe nothing we create is truly original but rather a summation of things we've learned in the past compiled in one specific present moment. My goal is to create memorable moments within rehearsal spaces and performances that allow fellow artists a chance to continue making a lot of art.

As a choreographer, I aspire to create collaboratively with others as opposed to creating by oneself. Different mediums and timelines allow different levels of this, but sharing a vision with others allows further depth and understanding. I believe the rehearsal space is to be a playground where working together creates the best performance possible.

Teaching Philosophy

Today I get to dance; today I get to teach. I have a passion for dance inside me and a desire to share that love with others. I believe that every day we get the opportunity to dance, and that is a gift. Each class is an opportunity to grow for the students and for myself. Dance is a form of expression that requires continual growth and my goal is to provide a space to develop technically and express freely.

As a dancer, performer and teacher, I strive to create and educate by sharing my art with others through genuine connection and collaboration, encouraging growth every step of the way.

Sample Lesson Plan

My foundation for class focuses on strength, technique, history, and performance.

I have experience teaching in dance studios ages 18 months to 18 years: styles include tap, jazz, ballet, and pointe.

I've taught workshops in local high schools, to theatre and dance programs, in south Georgia, mainly tap and jazz.
